As with contact lenses the spectacle lens market is continuously upgrading and developing. There is always improvement in the designs of the lenses.
The lenses are being made thinner, lighter, more durable and more practical.

Single Vision
The latest development in single vision lenses, are the thinner lighter weight materials which range in design and price and there should be one to suit you.
If you need a lens for sports use then there are tints specially prepared for each. If your vocation is computers, then there are speciality lenses for this.
Bifocals
For those who need the convenience of seeing both at distance and at near then these are the tried and tested lenses which have served the generations well.
Although an older design, they have been modified and improved on, to get them to the best designs they can be.
Varifocals
This is where the research and development has been invested in from all the major manufacturers. The lenses now have much larger field of view in both the distance and near areas. They are now being personalized to your frame and prescription requirements.
Materials
The various materials are available and we have been fortunate to test and pass judgement on the latest Transitions VI material. We were one of the few test sites for the pre-launch of the material in the UK.
There are the safety materials such as Polycarbonate and the high index lenses In 1.6 , 1.67, 1.70 and 1.74 refractive indices in plastic as well as the thinner 1,7,
1.8 and 1.9 index glass lenses that we prescribe.
