FAQ's
Q. From what age should my children have their eyes tested?
A. We recommend that they should be tested just before they start school. If problems are found then we
are able to attend to problems before they embed themselves. Obviously if you notice that there are
problems before then will gladly examine your child earlier.
If there is a family history of eye problems, then we may recommend earlier testing.
Q. How often should I have my eyes tested?
A. Adults should have a visual evaluation at least once every two years. If there is a history of visual
problems in the family, then it advisable to have a check up every year or 6 monthly.
Q. If I or my child, have specific learning difficulties and Dyslexia can you help us?
A. If your child is a mature six year old or older it is very possible that vision therapy and or tinted lenses
may help in cases of poor tracking, reduced accommodation or low convergence.
The best thing to do is to make an appointment for us to evaluate what is necessary.
Q. If I have dry eyes, how can it be rectified?
A. Dry eyes is a very common problem which requires treatment as soon as it is diagnosed. There are
several new treatments available now that would assist in relieving the condition. We must evaluate
initially that it is infact, a dry eye condition that you have before recommending any form of treatment.
Q. If I have cataracts what can be done?
A. Benjamin Jacobs is an accredited Optometrist for Direct Cataract referral in Islington and we can refer
you directly to the hospital for treatment.
Spectacles
Q. My spectacles are heavy and uncomfortable is there anything I can do?
A. Yes you can use lighter weight lenses and frame materials that would reduce the weight of the spectacles
or you could try contact lenses.
Q. I like the idea of multifocals, but my friend had trouble adjusting to them. What happens if I do too?
A. Multifocal lenses have in recent years been vastly improved in by designing lenses to meet individual
requirements whether for recreational or occupational work. This coupled with newer measuring
equipment, means that it is rare for anyone to have difficulties wearing multifocal lenses. However,
if you are still having trouble after having your spectacles dispensed, we will exchange these lenses
for bifocals or single vision lenses.
Q. I like to keep up with designer fashion. What can you offer me?
A. We have a wide variety of the latest designer frames in stock. This should allow you to select from the
Ranges in store.
Q. Spectacles can be very costly. What price do you start at?
A. For single vision spectacles we start at just £25.00.
